Mrs. Sneha Kulaye
I would like to present a brief report of AFAC English School’s Primary Marathi & Semi-English Medium. Our section, which was purely a Marathi Medium until the year 2006, had to face a lot of hurdles. There was a time when the number of children started deteriorating, as many students opted for English Medium. With the strong support of the Management and a lot of hard work of my staff members, we decided to go for ‘Government Aid’. We are grateful to Mr. Rahul Shevale-M.P, who was a great help in getting the work done. In the process, we realized that ‘The English Language is the basic need of today. This has resulted in the transformation of our ‘Marathi Medium’ into ‘Semi-English’ where subjects like Maths and Science are taught in English. Today, as our school turns 50 years old, I can proudly say that we are making a steady progress.
Apart from academics, we give importance to co-curricular activities too. We conduct many competitions, Bal sabhas, festivals, annual day programmes, picnics, etc. every year. Our students have made us proud by obtaining scholarships and prizes in different competitions.
Jayashree Lanjekar, Bhagyashree Pol, Shubham Pol received Scholarships from the government. I received the Guru Dronacharya Award and the Mayor’s Award in the year 2008. Our teachers too have participated in many competitions and have come out with flying colors. Education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world. We are trying to do exactly that by educating the children to adapt to the world’s surroundings and prove themselves to be successful citizens of our country.
